Getting there

Wow, keeping this updated regularly has been much harder than I expected. Between watching the NCAAs and getting ready for our big party, I haven't really even set at the computer too much. The house is slowly coming around and should be looking pretty nice for the party Saturday.

We finished up the bathroom project over the weekend. New mirror, no more wallpaper, new paint...Stacie even made curtains. I think it turned out pretty nice. The top picture is of the completed project.

Stacie hired a cleaning lady this week to help getting ready for the party. I think she is addicted to her now! She did all the windows and scrubbed the floors in the great room, sun porch, and computer room. The piece of carpet that we had in the great room was getting pretty stained and shoddy, so last night, Stacie, Gavin, and I took a trip to Ollie's for a new piece (Malin stayed at her Aunt Christie's). The piece we had before was about 8 x 10, the new piece is much bigger - 12 X 15. It's Berber, so it's not as soft as the plush we had there before. I think we are going to have to go back and get a pad for under it. The bottom picture is of the clean floors and the new carpet, even though the carpet doesn't really show up that well in the picture. Now the trick is to keep the kids out of there until the party!

Getting there, but still lots to do! Posted by Picasa

Busy week

Up late painting the bathroom and watching basketball and noticed that we haven't updated this in a few days.

Monday Malin went to the Lions' Club Father Daughter banquet along with Briley and Marina. Stacie and I had a nice evening with Gavin, then watched a movie until Malin got home. She was excited, but tired.

Tuesday Malin went to the dentist. She got an 'A'. Hardly any plaque. We asked her where she wanted to go to celebrate, and she picked Red Lobster. Had a nice dinner there, then both kids fell asleep on the way home. I carried them both in from the car, got them both changed in to their jammies, and put them both to bed -- all without waking them. Can you say EXHAUSTED?

I was so tired last night that I fell asleep at 8:30 while putting Malin to bed. Between watching movies, working on the bathroom, and the kids waking me in the middle of the night (somehow both of them have ended up down in our bed every night this week), and now basketball games, I haven't been sleeping much.

Haven't taken any pictures recently, but here are some more pictures from our Florida vacation that some of you have been asking for.

EDIT: Apparently the blogger program is not going to cooperate with me tonight and allow me to post pictures, and I'm too tired to figure it out. Will have to try that again later.

Relaxing weekend

Despite the stress of Daddy watching basketball instead of keeping on top of the bathroom remodel, we've had a nice relaxing family weekend. Made rice krispie treats and home made ice cream together yesterday. Cold outside, so we're staying warm by soaking in the hot tub. Posted by Picasa

Big Fat Juicy Steak on the Grill

"It was yummy, " says Malin. We had the first steak of the season tonight on the grill. It was yummy.

We took the wallpaper off in the downstairs bathroom. We rented a steamer and it worked really well...very easy! Doyle patched the hole in the wall at the bottom of the steps from Gavin throwing down the exersaucer. Yes, the wall at the bottom of the steps that Nana and Pappy Tom painted for us while wer were in Florida...

Gavin got his hair cut today...second buzz cut ever.

We are off to Lowes to get supplies and paint chips. Posted by Picasa

What a mess!

Well, after record setting high temperatures yesterday (in the 70's), today it was windy, cold, and it even snowed a bit. What a rude awakening!
Gavin had Hershey Kisses tonight for dessert. This is a pretty typical face for him to have after eating chocolate.
I took the kids to the TVES playground on Saturday afternoon. Malin took her Razor scooter, and had some sort of an accident with it. I didn't see what happened, but this the black and blue mark it left on her leg. It actually looks a lot better tonight than it did last night and Sunday. No wonder she cried!

Girl Scout Cookie Time!

This picture is actually from Wednesday night, but we didn't take any pictures today, so I thought this one would be a good one to post. Fudge covered short bread - Daddy's favorite. Unfortunately, I had to share them with Malin. Gavin was already in bed, or I am sure I would have had to share with him too. He got some the next night, though.

Today we took a trip to Bainbridge (near Elizabethtown) for Peyton Burd's (That would be Malin & Gavin's second cousin) 1st birthday party. Had a good time. Cake, homemade ice cream. Gavin was wild all day, from the time he got up, through church, the whole ride down, the whole time there, the whole ride home. Nana rode with us. We stopped at Costco's and Target on the way home, so it made for a late night. Malin fell asleep in the car before Clark's Ferry, so she should get a good nights sleep. Gavin is just now getting settled. Daddy will follow soon.

Another Early Spring Day!

The kids had a blast playing outside today! Doyle got his new cd system in the Burby today. I got the garage partially cleaned out. Malin is quite the trickster on her scooter and seems to be getting much better at balancing on it. Gavin as always is drawn to the dirt! I guess Boys do love dirt!  Posted by Picasa

Malin's Beauty School

Doyle was long over due for a haircut. Malin was intrigued (as she always is) over the clippers and the process. So, I decided to let her cut Doyle's hair...you can't mess up that cut! She loved it! She was, however, afraid to cut off his ears...she said, "I'll let Mommy cut by your ears, Daddy, because I don't want to cut them off." She did a nice job up the back of his head and then she couldn't figure out how to turn the clippers.  Posted by Picasa

What a beautiful day!

I am glad to say we are beginning to get over our spring colds and things and just in time for spring weather! It is so nice today with the exception on the wind. The kids played outside for a while today. Malin drove the Gator around and Gavin proclaimed that he doesn't like "Mai-Mai" driving! He climbed up his slide and slid down on his belly and into the dirt. He found several sticks, each larger in size, to dig holes in the dirt. What an explorer! Malin was content to swing on her swing as long as I pushed her. I am getting that I actually have to put some force behind my pushes now! Boy do they grow up fast.

Right now, Gavin is napping. Malin and I did some ColorWonder mazes out on the front porch. Malin is now in watching Rachel Ray cook something up. (I don't quite know why, but cooking shows grab her attention!)

Why Blog?

We decided we needed to start a blog so our family can hear some of the stories in our lives right now...Malin and Gavin have been full of themselves lately and we want to share some of our joy!
